Need a summer read? Try these!

The Comeback Season by Jennifer E. Smith and Waiting for Normal by Leslie Connor are both outstanding books--good for a quiet summer afternoon.

Waiting for Normal will delight readers who loved Because of Winn Dixie. Twelve-year-old Addie tries to cope with her mother's erratic behavior and being separated from her beloved stepfather and half-sisters when she and her mother go to live in a small trailer by the railroad tracks on the outskirts of Schenectady, New York.

The Comeback Season is a heart-wrenching book for young adults. High school freshman Ryan Walsh, a Chicago Cubs fan, meets Nick when they both skip school on opening day, and their blossoming relationship becomes difficult for Ryan when she discovers that Nick is seriously ill and she again feels the pain of losing her father five years earlier.

They sound like good books.
